1a. Explain George's perspective for what he did to Lennie.
1a. George was very depressed and saddened about what he did to his best
friend. He knew everything about him and Lennie became an impact in George's life.Even though he didn't show it, he did care very much about Lennie. Also George and Lennie went through a lot such as the situations when they ran away because of Lennie causing something. It's obvious that he really cared about Lennie and accepted him for who he was and what he did. George didn't mean to intentionally murder his best friend, he did it because he cared and respected everything about Lennie.
1b. Do you think that was the best thing to do for Lennie?
2b. Yes, I think it was the best thing to happen Lennie because he would of went through even worse if he were killed by someone else. So I think that It was best that George killed his best friend, rather than someone else murder him who didn't know or care of Lennie. Lennie was always happy, yet he always did something wrong and George always had to pick it up for him. It isn't Lennie's fault that he is mentally ill. However I don't think he should be going through drama when other's don't accept his condition. He was killed with love, and respect and he was killed by someone who knew what he was going through and was a true friend.
2.Using a "quote" to support your response, explain the father's reasons for what he did.
2a. "Saying that was her wish," was said by the Eluana Englaro's father. He obviously didn't want to see his daughter suffer like she has been. So he had to be brave and respect the fact that she wanted to die in peace rather then go through the agony and pain. If I were a father I have no idea what I would do if my daughter were on tubes, but I'd also understand if my daughter would no longer want to be on the tubes. It'd be really hard and very depressing, but if it's my daughter wish then I'd support her.
2b.Using a "quote" to support your response, explain if that was the best thing to do for the daughter.
2b. " His daughter had expressed a preference for dying over being kept alive artificially," Yes I think it was the best thing to do for his daughter because she didn't want to suffer anymore then she was already, so she'd rather be in peace. Furthermore, it was the daughters choice to take off the tubes, so people should respect her say. Eulana was vegetative for 17 years, she obviously couldn't take it no longer. Also her father wouldn't want to see his daughter go through all this pain when she can just die without the pain. Its sad to see someone that's your own blood die, however sometimes you have to sacrifice some thing's because you love the person so much.
2c.Do you agree or disagree with what the father did? Why?
2c. Yes, I agree with how the father took the feeding tubes off of his child because I believe everyone should die peacefully, with no agony. It takes a lot of courage to do such a thing, however if you love someone so much, you'd do anything for them and that's what Eluana's father did. Eulana's family went through a lot with seeing their daughter, cousin, or sister suffer and they couldn't see it no longer, especially the father. It was all love for what the father did, and he obviously respected and considered his daughters opinion of dieing. She's in a better place and is no longer going through the everyday pain that she use to go through.
3.Imagine and list things that might have been going through the father's mind as he contemplated his "mercy" killing. (In the article, the father's suicide note gives specific evidence of why he did what he did. Elaborate on it.) Specifically, what could he have been negative or paranoid about?
3a. While the father was attempting to kill his kids as well as his wife and himself, he was contemplating about what he was doing and why he was doing it. He didn't want to do it, but he obviously thought it was for the best. The mother also said that if her and her husband should die, then their kids should go along with them. The father was paranoid about losing his job and how him and his family were going to survive with no job or money. It seemed like he didn't want to be stressed and irritated about money or losing a great job at the Kaiser. Considering he lied about a few things concerning his career, it'd be really hard to get a good enough job to support his five kids.
3b. Unfortunately, with America's failing economy, many professionals are losing their jobs. While many do not resort to something as extreme as the man in the article, it does cause stress within families. What are some ways that parents can support children (to succeed in life) that do NOT require money?
3b. I think that they're are many ways to support your family while going through money issue or losing jobs. One way you can support your family is showing them that you care even though your stressing about money. MONEY CAN'T BUY HAPPINESS! I believe no matter what happens family always should show that they love each other no matter the struggles. Also parents can help their children with school and participate in school functions such as PTA meetings or attending their kids sports game. Also children are going to school for a reason and that's to be successful and make the future better. The economy would be better if children stay focus in school, go to college, and live a great life, with their parents supporting them and always being there for them even if its a struggling time.
